The Medial-Lateral Pedal Force Component Correlates with Q-Angle during Steady-State Cycling at Different Workloads and Cadences

چکیده

Leg movement during cycling is constrained to the pedal/crank path and predominantly occurs in a sagittal plane. Medial-lateral force (FML) applied pedals considered as waste does not contribute pedaling. The aim of this study was examine changes FML across different cadences workloads, correlation with lateral knee (Q-angle). Twenty-two cyclists completed six trials at three workloads (2, 2.5 3 W/kg) (75, 85, 95 rpm). Forces were recorded from pedal mounted left side. Absolute normalized (to peak total force) compared conditions cross-correlation Q-angle calculated. significantly (p < 0.05) higher absolute cadence. There no significant difference cadences. decrease (~10 N) workloads. Statistically correlations found between (R = 0.70–0.77). results demonstrate link healthy pain-free stationary cycling. It has also been observed that smaller magnitude present when effectiveness increased.

Cocontraction and economy of triathletes and cyclists at different cadences during cycling motion.

The purpose of this study was to compare the cycling technique of triathletes and cyclists on the basis of the cocontraction of selected muscles of the lower limbs and economy at different cadences. The economy (EC) and percent cocontraction from nine triathletes and eight cyclists were compared at 60, 75, 90 and 105 rpm cadences. Tests were performed on two separate days. The maximal oxygen up...

Stability of pedalling mechanics during a prolonged cycling exercise performed at different cadences.

The aim of this study was to analyse the effect of pedalling rate on the pattern of mechanical torque application and on neuromuscular fatigue during prolonged cycling exercise. Eleven well-trained individuals performed three 1-h pedalling sessions, at 50 rev.min-1, 110 rev.min-1 and a freely chosen cadence, at an intensity corresponding to 65% of their maximal aerobic power. The mechanical tor...

Neuromuscular function during prolonged pedalling exercise at different cadences.

AIM The purpose of the present work was to assess the strategies set by the central nervous system in order to provide the power output required throughout a prolonged (1-h) pedalling exercise performed at different cadences (50 rpm, 110 rpm and the freely chosen cadence). METHODS Neuromuscular (NM) activity of vastus lateralis, rectus femoris, biceps femoris and gastrocnemius lateralis muscl...

Effect of power, pedal rate, and force on average muscle fiber conduction velocity during cycling.

Muscle fiber conduction velocity (MFCV) provides indications on motor unit recruitment strategies due to the relation between conduction velocity and fiber diameter. The aim of this study was to investigate MFCV of thigh muscles during cycling at varying power outputs, pedal rates, and external forces. Twelve healthy male participants aged between 19 and 30 yr cycled on an electronically braked...

Caffeine Affects Time to Exhaustion and Substrate Oxidation during Cycling at Maximal Lactate Steady State

This study analyzed the effects of caffeine intake on whole-body substrate metabolism and exercise tolerance during cycling by using a more individualized intensity for merging the subjects into homogeneous metabolic responses (the workload associated with the maximal lactate steady state-MLSS). MLSS was firstly determined in eight active males (25 ± 4 years, 176 ± 7 cm, 77 ± 11 kg) using from ...
